Some Words About Us

D'Arcy Erokan is thrilled to be making her website bio debut. She is originally from the Bay Area in California and graduated with a BFA in theater from Southern Oregon University in the quaint little town of Ashland, Oregon. Some of her very favorite roles include Sally Bowles (Cabaret), Kitty (Let's Go to the Movies), Escalus/Mistress Overdone (Measure for Measure) and D'Arcy Erokan (Frowned Upon). She is 100% confident she could school you in Tetris. She has taken classes at the improv/comedy theater The Upright Citizens Brigade and worships the ground it walks on, but she thinks is would be weird if theaters could walk. She also thinks its weird saying "she" all the time.

Devon Coleman comes from Detroit, Michigan. Home of Devon Coleman. The rest of this bio will be that of Dr. Strange, Sorcerer Supreme:

Stephen Strange was a brilliant but arrogant neurosurgeon whose career was cut short when a car accident resulted in nerve damage to his hands. Thereafter, he was unable even to hold a scalpel. Hoping for a miracle, a despondent Strange traveled to the Himalayas to seek the counsel of the Ancient One, a Tibetan sorcerer. As the Ancient One's guest, Strange learned the sorcerer's pupil Baron Mordo was plotting to kill his mentor. Trying to warn the Ancient One of his student's treachery, Strange was discovered by Mordo and mystically restrained.

Witnessing Mordo's power and discovering his murderous intent shocked the jaded Strange into a realization of evil's true nature and the need to combat its forces. The Ancient One freed Strange from Mordo's spell and revealed he had known his student's treacherous plans all along. Having peered into Strange's soul, the sorcerer saw his potential for great goodness and power, and adopted him as his disciple. When Strange's studies with the Ancient One ended, he returned to New York. Though the world at large believes he is no more than an eccentric occult authority, Dr. Strange has inherited from his mentor the mantle of Earth's Sorcerer Supreme.

When the Omegatron threatened the planet, Dr. Strange joined forces with the Hulk and Namor the Sub-Mariner to defeat the ultimate computer. Thereafter, the loose-knit band of Defenders would unite periodically, coming together to oppose threats to humanity.

Other Significants

Jason Carden wants you to savor the moment. The moment you read this and learned that he now resides in New York. Jason is like the George Harrison to our Lennon & McCartney. Maybe you're amazed that he's here now, performing with us. But imagine how much better the shows will be now. He's got his mind set on having an active role and that's just fine with us. So, in summary: Revolution No. 9.

Jason Edwards was born in Flint, Michigan, then bored for several years in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He lived in London for a little while. He now lives in Ithaca, New York, and likes it there. But not as much as London. And that's the story of the places that Jason has lived.

Jason designs and maintains frownedupon.com, and he also designs our flyers and t-shirts and things like that. Guess what? If you want those things, too, he can make them for you.

Elaina Fejes doesn't know if there's a little "Michigan" club happening here at Frowned Upon, but at one point her zip code was 48071, that's all she's sayin' (Google map-it if you have to).

Elaina is the kind of person who doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up except "Rich" and "Famous" which is the only reason why she appears with Frowned Upon in the first place. Darce and Dev are going places, and she wants a piece of the action (and would otherwise be sub-par on her own.) Other than the riding of coat-tails, Elaina enjoys corn dogs ( the vegetarian kind even though she herself isn't strictly a vegetarian. It's weird.), wrestling singlets, roller derby, body lotion, double sided tape, awkward pauses, gay/straight men, slide shows, pets with people names, and making lists. She has been singing and writing for ages, and has been acting since her first job interview in NYC in March of 2004. ("It would be an HONOR to be a temp with your agency!!!")

She can been seen at classy open-mic nights when the mood is right.

Nate Harrington was born in Frankfort, Michigan, the German metropolis of the Midwest. Not much is known about his life before the age of 21, but it is speculated that he grew up in many small cities in Michigan before finding his way to Detroit. Okay it's actually Madison Heights, but to make him appear cooler and tougher, let's say Detroit. A correspondence with him was established in 2002, but the only useful information obtained from it was that he watches a lot of films ("genius cinema" was found to be the most commonly used phrase) and idolizes Daredevil, Neal H. Moritz, and Peter Dragon. And apparently he has a hard time distiguishing between fact and fiction. Though the public demands more from this boy wonder, Nate's current life status and whereabouts are unknown.

Brock Mahan is the world's preeminent writer of Viking-themed drama. His works include Saxon Dogs Must Die, Red Tundra and Trondheim Mon Amour, a reimagining of the 1959 Alain Resnais French New Wave classic set on the fjords of 10th century Norway. Brock would like to thank Frowned Upon, Loki the Trickster-God and his agent from William Morris Oslo.

Meghan McCaig is living it up in L.A. She has lived in Middletown, New York; Turnersville, New Jersey; Cincinnati, Ohio; Cleveland, Ohio; Boston, Massachusetts; Albany, Georgia and even spent a short period of time in Russia but if you ask her she'll just say she's from Ohio. After trying to force herself to be a stable human being and become a lawyer, Meghan has given up on making her parents proud and is now an actress. She studied improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater where she met D'Arcy and Devon and is currently writing a One Woman Show. She has recently played Wonder Woman in a film and had the lead role in The Main Character that happened to just win Best Drama at the New York Film and Video Festival. She thinks D'Arcy and Devon are the funniest people alive and enjoys doing physical comedy that makes Devon cry.

John Murray is married and lives in Brooklyn, according to a bio I read that is presumably true. Now, according to this bio, he's a child of the universe and he only gets what he puts in. His favorite Chicago song is "Feeling Stronger Every Day". And boy, does he love Diana Ross. Don't even mention Dreamgirls around this guy. Or Mahogany, for that matter. Try not to say The Wiz around him while you're at it. Basically, if you're going to talk about Diana Ross, let him start the conversation...if you don't heed any other advice on this bios page...heed that.

John is probably happy to be a part of the cast of Jetpack Go!, it's hard to say. He's good at hiding his displeasure.

Brenna Palughi is originally from New Hampshire. President Bartlet is her president! She's never really said that. Don't you hate when people say shit like that. Like, when people have those type of college stickers and when you get close to them they actually say, "Starfleet Academy" or they have a bumper sticker that says, "My Other Car Is A DeLorean". As in the time machine from Back To The Future. What the fuck, man? Your life sucks, too bad. But it's time to stop playing make believe. You went to Amherst College. And if you had another car, it'd probably be a Geo Tracker. Brenna's life doesn't suck, though. She's in shows with us. And that's the suite life of Zack & Cody.

Chuck Rea is a man, a myth, & a legend.

The Man: Chuck is an actor. Some would say the greatest actor of our time, but he's fine with just being the greatest actor of any time, anywhere. His immediate influences include Ted Knight, John Ritter, and Fozzie Bear. He sings and dances and does Broadway entertainments in his spare time. But his passion and spirit belong to D'Arcy and Devon and the world domination of Frowned Upon.

The Myth: In Greek mythology, Chuck Rea is the winged horse that was fathered by Poseidon with Medusa. When her head was cut of by the Greek hero Perseus, Chuck sprang forth from her pregnant body. His galloping created the well Hippocrene on the Helicon (a mountain in Boeotia).

The Legend: Chuck killed a bear! A FUCKING BEAR!

Tracy Weiler comes to us from wherever cute girls come from. Seriously, though, are you reading this or are you looking at the picture next to this. If you're reading this, I don't want to say that you're gay...I just want to ask how gay you are. Tracy has trained with the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and probably others, but I don't know, because nobody around here tells me anything. They did, however, send that picture to go with this bio. So all is forgiven. Tracy is part of the cast of Jetpack Go! and I'm smart enough to not even come close to comparing her and D'Arcy.

Lauren Zinn is thrilled to be allowed to write her own bio. She writes for a living, sometimes. Other times, she teaches yoga. And between all that, she likes music, dancing, dancing to music, singing to music, getting massages, peanut butter and those Trader Joe's Meatless Meatballs. (Seriously, check 'em out.) (But not too much, because it's no fun when they run out.) More interestingly, or perhaps not, she is one-third of The Modern Kids, a sketch comedy trio with the best intentions of doing another show (and updating its website), an improviser and a believer in Snape's innocence from the moment she closed Book 6. If that last bit means nothing to you, just substitute "nerd."
